As well as being the world's number one brewery for band collaboration beers – having brewed with Mastodon, Frank Turner, Enter Shikari, Millencolin, Rodney P, Slaves and over 20 other renowned artists – we know as well as anyone that beer and music go hand-in-hand.

Beer has not only served as a muse for many a band, but as also had a hand in countless legendary backstage encounters and infamous dressing room antics.

20) Dave Grohl, Foo Fighters

Ever been at a gig and run out of beer but not want to lose your spot at the barrier? Well, this lucky Foo Fighters fan was in that exact situation when legendary Foo Fighters frontman/former Nirvana drummer Dave Grohl topped him up with some fresh beer. Cheers Dave, the next round's on us.

 

19) Alice Cooper and… KFC's Colonel Sanders

No your eyes do not deceive you. This is none other than legendary rockstar Alice Cooper having a beer with KFC's keeper of the secret spices, legendary fried chicken baron Colonel Sanders!

 

18) Liam Gallagher, Oasis

Here's legendary Oasis frontman sharing his beer with one particularly lucky photographer at a charity football match at Mile End stadium back in 1996. Bottoms up mate!

 

17) Mastodon and Enter Shikari

We told you that beer brings people together… well here's Signature Brew bringing two of our collaborators together backstage at Leeds Festival as they tried each other's brews. Both Mastodon drummer Brann Dailor and Enter Shikari guitarist Rory Clewlow swore that their respective beers were the best. It's not for us to say, but we quite enjoyed them both…

 

16) Metallica's James Hetfield and Aerosmith's Steven Tyler

Meanwhile, at a different field a few decades before, two chaps call James and Steven were bonding over the music festival's finest. Oh to have been a fly on the wall for that conversation…

 

15) Hayley Williams, Paramore

What's Paramore frontwoman Hayley Williams' favourite tipple? We're not sure, but she seemed to have enjoyed this Harry Potter Butterbeer on her trip to JK Rowling's local, The Cauldron. Sure it's not technically what we'd call a real pint but we like butter and we like beer so surely something called Butterbeer can't be anything short of amazing… right?

 

14) Bruce Springsteen

It turns out that The Boss isn't the most careful of drinkers… luckily fans didn't seem to mind much when he accidentally shared his beer with them at a recent headline show. Turns out being born to run is thirsty business…

 

13) Iggy Pop, Johnny Depp and Kate Moss

We've run a lot of legendary backstage bars at a lot of music festivals, but we can't say we've ever had the likes of Johnny Depp and Kate Moss swing by to hang out with Iggy Pop. Still, if you're reading this folks, you're always welcome at the Signature Brew bar!

 

12) Keith Richards, The Rolling Stones

And it's not just backstage that the antics happen. Guitar legend Keith Richards appears to have gone through a phase of having a mini-bar on the side of stage. That's what we call rockstar status. We can neither confirm nor deny that Mick Jagger had a cocktail bar on his side and Ronnie Wood had an entire functioning micro brewery round the back of Charlie Watts' drumkit…

 

11) Matt Bellamy and Dominic Howard, Muse

Who are these fresh-faced young chaps grabbing a cheeky beer in the VIP area back in the year 2000? It's only Muse's own Matt Bellamy (vocals) and Dominic Howard (drums). 

 

10) Ace Frehley, KISS

Did you know that KISS have their own brand of wine? No? Well they do, but that doesn't matter because here's Ace Frehley in full KISS gear holding his favourite tipple… beer. Legend.

 

9) Bob Marley

Speaking of legends, here's a lesser-known shot of a genuine icon enjoying a cold beer on a hot beach. 

 

8) Dimebag Darrell, Pantera

Dimebag may be gone but he'll never be forgotten – and the beloved metal guitarist famously loved his brews. We mean… just look at that T-shirt!

 

7) The Ramones

There's definitely something about listening to punk rock that makes you want to drink a pint. And these chaps should know, they helped define it! We're thinking about getting matching leather jackets for everyone at Signature Brew in honour of this incredible photo.

 

6) Tupac Shakur

Tupac, Notorious B.I.G., Ice Cube, the Geto Boyz and Wu-Tang Clan all famously name-checked American malt liquor in their music as the 40oz bottles became a staple of the American hip-hop scene. Here's the main man himself sipping a bottle of something tasty…

 

5) Johnny Cash

It's hardly a surprise that the man in black enjoyed a beer now and then. Heck, he even called one of his hits 'Beer Drinking Songs'. Sounds like our kinda music…

 

 

4) Ronnie James Dio and Lemmy Kilmister of Motörhead

These two heroes may have departed our Earthly realms to join the great metal band in the sky, but we like to think that up there in heaven (or maybe they'd feel more at home in hell?) they're cheers-ing away like this every night.

 

3) Dave Mustaine of Megadeth and James Hetfield of Metallica

Speaking of metal legends… check out this awesome photo of a young Dave Mustaine when he was a member of Metallica doing his thing with James Hetfield.

How do you keep arguably the most legendary pipes in music well oiled during a show? Yep, you guessed it… BEER. Just look at the satisfaction on his face, that's a well-earned pint!

Is there a more British photo than this? John Lennon, Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr and George Harrison knocking back pints in a good old English boozer. CHEERS!
